Family Photography in London: What to Expect From Your Session
If you have never had a professional family photoshoot before, it is natural to wonder what actually happens. Here is a clear guide to the whole experience from start to finish. Booking your first professional family photography session can feel like a leap into the unknown. What actually happens? How long does it take? What are you paying for? These are the questions I hear regularly, and this is my attempt to answer all of them honestly. Before your session Once you have booked, you will receive a confirmation with everything you need to know about your session, including location details, what to bring, and guidance on what to wear. I am always available by email or WhatsApp if any questions come up in the meantime. The session fee of £125 covers your full one-hour session and one beautifully edited digital image. Digital collections and artwork products are chosen afterwards at your private viewing. On the day Sessions take place at two studio locations in London. One in Canning Town, East London, and one in Clapham, South London. Both are accessible from across the city, and the exact address is confirmed when you book. When you arrive, the priority is always making sure everyone feels comfortable before we start. We spend a few minutes settling in, the children explore the space, and I get to know your family a little before anything else. Most families arrive slightly uncertain and leave having had a genuinely lovely morning. That matters to me enormously. During the session Sessions run for around an hour at a relaxed, natural pace. I guide you throughout, suggesting positions, noticing moments, and keeping things flowing, but nothing ever feels forced or staged. There is always room for the session to breathe and for unexpected moments to happen. Every session includes full family portraits, smaller pairings and groupings, and individual portraits of each child. By the end, you will have a complete range of images that tell the full story of your family. After your session Within around five days, your images are edited and ready to view at your private viewing session, a Zoom call at a time that suits you, with evening appointments available. This is where you see your photographs for the first time and choose which images and products you would like. Who comes? Young families with babies and toddlers Older children who do not think they want to be photographed (they usually come round) Multi-generational groups with grandparents Same-sex families and blended families Couples without children Well-behaved pets, always welcome Every family is welcome. Every size, every shape. Sessions are designed to work for everyone, and I tailor each one to the specific group in front of me.
